How to Become a Member

Have you attended an AAWC-hosted event in the last twelve months?  Experiencing the club at work is important when considering whether you would like to join our group, and so we require that you attend at least one of our meetings, trials, races or shows before putting in your application.

Are you the official owner of record for a Whippet or do you have an immediate family member that is an official owner of record?  We prefer that club members own or live with Whippets since they are the central reason for our forming a group, but if you simply like Whippets and like what Whippets do, then you can still join the club.

Are you in good standing with the American Kennel Club, the American Whippet Club, the American Sighthound Field Association and the Continental Whippet Alliance? These organizations sanction the events we hold, and we greatly respect their opinion and authority.

Can you support and subscribe to the purposes of this club?  If you have not read what these are, write to our secretary, Bill Dvorak, and ask for a copy of our Constitution and By-Laws.  Generally speaking, we endeavor to protect and advance the interests of Whippets and encourage sportsmanlike competition at organized events; we urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which Whippets shall be judged; and we encourage interest in the humane welfare of all animals.

To request an application for membership, please write to Club Secretary Bill Dvorak.
